First judges’ comments in 2019

On a sunny day with northern light streaming through the full height windows or seated on the lawns outside, there are few places more attractive than Leura Park just 15 minutes from Geelong on the Bellarine. The music is pleasant, the tables linen covered, and the grapevines are metres away. Attractions include the cellar door experience, lunch, coffee, or live music events. The menu features fresh Portarlington Mussels and other locally-sourced dishes. There’s a selection of pizzas with inspired toppings such as curried cauliflower, caramelized onion, tomato, king brown mushrooms, cheese, Indian Relish and vegan pizzas. Or try the “Winter Warmers” menu of $25 for two courses. Of course there’s an excellent choice of beverages, including its famous Shiraz, Pinot Gris, ciders, local beers, and good coffee too.  With free Sunday music, reasonable prices, helpful staff and optional tours of the estate, great entertainment and value for money await visitors to Leura Park
