FIRST Judges report IN 2022

Flying Brick continues to set standards for experiencing local produce at its best, the stunning venue captures amazing views, has rolling grass area outdoors for the warmers days where families can lose an afternoon with exceptional food and wines produced from vines an arms length away. For the foodies out there, this place is a must, pre order a high cheese and enjoy it with a wine paddle and it doesn’t get any better.

This visit to Flying Brick rewarded me with the best meal I have eaten at this venue. The ceviche was stunning, beautifully presented, interesting textures and a great balance of flavour. The tuna was fresh and well cured which paired perfectly with the light crunchy squid ink crisp. Deciding on main from a well written menu is not easy, my choice the duck was brilliant, the leg itself perfectly cooked with crispy skin yet moist tender meat falling from the bone beneath. The white bean stew was also very good, the sausage infused through was a great idea to create interest or the palate, it was full of flavour without overpowering the duck. As expected there was a great drinks list, the range of product being produced by this powerhouse wine maker and brewery. They have enough drinks to fill two lists. From when I first started dining here the standard of wine has gone through the roof, it is now exceptional and I hope they get the recognition in the wine world they deserve. And it was god to see some other wines on  offer.  to round it out more. The idea of the wine paddle is brilliant, especially if when accompanied with High Cheese. I must comment on the Cheeses platters going past making me envious of the other guests! What a great innovation. For this I will be back.

Flying Brick offers exceptional value for money, when you consider the overall experience from walking in the door into the promotional space, the quality of local produce through both the menus, the price of the kids menu and the novelty of the platers, grazers and high teas. What more could you want, especially at the price point it sets. Add in the costs people don’t see such as heating, open fire and gardening its almost a steal!!

The customer service was very good. Staff were friendly and welcoming on arrival, had a great knowledge of the food menu and drinks lists and were comfortable making suggestions. Well done team.  Flying Brick provides exceptional value for money.

What the judges said in 2021

The Iconic Casual Dining Restaurant Flying Brick in Wallington was warm and inviting and offered attractive views over the vineyard. Its a great place to  relax, unwind and enjoy a variety of dishes designed for sharing. There was a good range and local wines and beers (many by the glass and in house) and tasting paddles of Flying Brick Ciders.  The tables in the dining room are perfectly spaced and there are comfortable retro couches and soft music playing in the background.  Good quality paper napkins and crockery were used. Very civilized and family friendly. The extensive lawns would be lovely for alfresco dining in warmer days and great for active children. Staff were friendly and offered helpful advice and drinking water was served when requested.
