The Brougham Arms in Bendigo is a great example of a traditional pub elevated by high grade dining, an generous menu of appealing dishes, a wide range of wines, beers, ciders and cocktails, friendly and attentive customer service, and good value for money. More than enough to ensure The Brougham is an extremely popular venue. The dishes looked wonderful and we sampled the Szechuan Calamari, Scotch Fillet, Pork Belly and Sticky Date Pudding. All well prepared with the pork cooked particularly well with a lovely crunch to the crackling.

Traditional family-friendly country pub atmosphere. Very popular. Good selections of quality dishes, local wines and craft beers. Good Coffee. Good value for money.

What the judges said in 2018

The Brougham Hotel in Bendigo enjoys strong local patronage and the standards of meals and drinks served are high, with good representation of local and regional produce and wines, craft beers and ciders. The restaurant operates efficiently and staff are enthusiastic, knowledgeable and helpful. Food presentation was good. The Chilli Salt Calamari dish and eight hour Slow Cooked Lamb Shoulder were excellent and the desserts were impressive (including the aptly named Smashed Pavlova with its confusion of berries, sweet Labna, hazelnuts and toffee shard). An excellent range of beverages is available, including good coffee, with a wide offering of local and Victorian wines by the glass and bottle, alongside selected Italian, New Zealand wines and South Australian wines, plus and interesting selection of cocktails. The Brougham Arms is a very good pub with lots of atmosphere, good service and things to eat and drink at reasonable prices.
