Kyneton Hotel
Judge's Comments
There’s more to Kyneton’s pumping hospitality scene than the attractions of Piper Street; just wander down to Mollison Street and pop into the Kyneton Hotel, the 155-year-old landmark smack in the middle of town. If you’re after just a bevvie or two you’ll be spoilt for choice. Check the board above the bar for the 8 rotating taps of familiar and craft beers and a bespoke collection of local and interstate wines by the glass or bottle, even a cheeky cocktail if you’re feeling a bit fancy.
The Kyneton is a welcoming destination for meet-ups and gatherings from mummies-who-lunch to sporting clubs, business meets and food & wine events. On a cool day you can kick back by the fireplace and in summer you can strap up your very good boy (or girl) and chill out in the doggo-friendly beer garden out the back. Sports lovers are known to haunt the sports bar for live sporting events and punters are well served by the SuperTAB onsite.
For tucker, you’ll be blessed with a continuously-changing menu of pub grub, but not as you know it. The Kyneton’s secret weapon Is Tim Austin, a popular local chef who churns out restaurant-quality meals at pub prices to his legion of local fans.
