If anywhere screams “speakeasy” it’s this sexy little den of cocktails hidden beneath an historic landmark building in Ballarat’s former legal heartland. When you discover the narrow laneway on Camp St, follow the festoon lights down before plunging into the underground temple to the Roaring Twenties known as the 18^th Amendment Bar. Celebrating everything ‘Prohibition’, without the actual prohibition, this hidden gem channels the boozy dens of Chicago and New York a century ago, except here the jazz and booze flow freely and the Feds have better things to do.

With a wall of spirits stretching to the ceiling and a team of mixologists slinging signature cocktails to suit any taste and budget, an hour or two in the 18^th Amendment will reward with great booze, atmospheric jazz, terrific grazing options and the chance to meet old chums and new in a warm, comfortable atmosphere.
