About the 2017 Golden Plate Awards
Introduced in 2003 the Golden Plate Awards recognise and promote excellence in hospitality in Regional Victoria.
The unique feature of the Awards is that people who eat out have access to an evidence based guide to eateries, and the eateries receive expert advice from the perspective of the customer on strengths and opportunities to add-value.
From 2017 eateries from all parts of Regional Victoria can enter the Awards
SW Victoria (territory includes Avoca, Ballarat, Daylesford, Grampians, Hamilton, Horsham, Mildura and the Pyrenees)
Bays and Coasts (territory includes Apollo Bay, Bellarine, Colac-Otway, Geelong, Mornington Peninsula, Port fairy, Portland, Queenscliff, Surfcoast and Warnambool)
Central Victoria (territory includes Bendigo, Castlemaine, Echuca, Kyneton, Macedon Ranges, Mildura, Shepparton, Seymour and Woodend)
East and Northern Victoria (territory includes Bairnsdale, Beechworth, Healesville, Lakes Entrance, Metung, Mansfield, Paynesville, Rutherglen, Wodonga, Warburton and the Yarra Valley)
Eateries competing in the Awards are judged by experts in hospitality under the leadership of International Food, Wine and Travel Writer Kevin Moloney (currently featuring in Channel Nine’s “Travel Guides” TV series.
Eateries are judged at least twice without notice for up to 35 factors including food and drink quality and presentation, choices of local foods, wines beers and ciders, customer service, ambience, coffee, and value for money.
Awards will be presented to the best regional eateries in the State of Victoria and the Best in the four Award Territories.
