Judges’ reports for 2021
The Dunes Cafe on Surfbeach Road offers great views of the Beach and Ocean and takes full advantage of the ever-changing views through floor to ceiling windows. Its open for Breakfast Lunch and Dinner with a “hole in the wall” kiosk catering for walk-in patrons, and there is a special “Pizza Night” on Wednesdays.
In the Cafe we were greeted by a very pleasant, well-presented and helpful waiter. Orders were taken quickly and drinks delivered promptly. Really good music that suited the venue that appeals to most age groups. The Dinner menu had plenty of variety and interesting vegetarian option. Very enjoyable starters. The fried potato with whipped cod roe and Salmon Cabiar was really delicious, cleverly presented and was a great modern take on the classic roesti. The Saganaki had a generous serve of well-balanced pickled jalapeno with honey glaze. The Rump Cap was very tender and served with a seeded mustard relish. The “fish of the day” Dory was beautifully presented with a velvet like veloute and cooked perfectly.
The Dunes is a “must visit” for Locals and Visitors. It continues to deliver Great Food and Service combined with amazing views .
Good wines by the glass were served in quality glassware. The Negroni cocktail had a perfect balance between the Gin, Vermouth and Campari. All three courses were generous serves and excellent value for money.

Superb beach and ocean views. Quick and helpful service. Interesting menu with plenty of choices including Vegetarian and Gluten-free. Stand out steaks, Saganaki, and Apple and Pear Crumble. Very good drink options including cocktails and good coffee. Generous serves and good value for money.
