The 18th Amendment Bar is the brain child of Gorge Camorra, Bartending veteran Hospitality legend and all round nice guy. “The aim is to provide somewhere for people to be able to come, relax, and enjoy their experience!

What the judges Said in 2021

If the 18th Amendment Bar had graced Camp St in my day, I might never had left Ballarat to seek my fortune, though its proximity to the old cop shop and court house may have rained on its parade back then. These days this bar ticks all the boxes for booze, atmosphere, service and sex appeal. Down a narrow alley, in an unexpected locale is a time warp speakeasy that drags you back 100 years to the Roaring Twenties and those years when alcohol consumption was prohibited. Ha! Fat chance of abstinence when you’re confronted with a drinks list that counts over 160 whiskies, 25 mezcals, 100 gins and 60 rums on its regular listing, plus heaps more rare and exclusive tipples and signature cocktails, backed up with a comprehensive beer and wine selection. And the bar snacks aint too shabby either. It’s dark, moody and sexy. The couches are comfy, the music evocative, the bartenders slinging cocktails like there’s no tomorrow and the floor staff make sure you have the great time you’re there for. This is party town, in a sophisticated upscale atmosphere where you can certainly get the drink that you want, even if you don’t know what it is. Just ask. You’ll be rewarded by some of the region’s most talented mixologists.
