Judges’ reports in 2021
Boasting one of Queenscliff’s best seafront outlooks and best beers, this 1870’s iconic hotel is the go-to venue for delicious artisan gins, a huge range of local craft beers and a showcase of award-winning regional wines. Queenscliff Brewhouse is a gorgeous, sprawling maritime-era pub with a host of separate spaces inside and alfresco.
With its in-house brewery and distillery, and a kitchen pumping out classic meals, the Queenscliff Brewhouse satisfies appetites of all types with a charm that makes you want to dance a jig. The old pub has been sensitively renovated to combine its old-world maritime heritage with modern-as-tomorrow facilities, and caters for anything from Friday Arvo drinkies to family celebration or full-blown weddings.
The main bar has a modern contemporary feel while the bistro aims for a more genteel atmosphere. The upstairs whisky bar presents a wealth of potential and the vast balcony would be a people magnet on a balmy summer evening. Complemented by the in-house brewing and distilling functions and the on-site cellar door showcasing local produce the Brewhouse represents all that is attractive on the Bellarine Peninsula.
Customer service was excellent. Staff were keen, focused, and well presented. Meal ordering is focused in two locations and drinks can be ordered at two bars on the ground floor. The staff here know their beers and you can take part in brewery tours and gin masterclasses and even make your own gin!
