Ocean Bar & Cafe

New cafe and wine bar in Hesse Street Queenscliffe

what the judges said in 2018

A stylish café, clean and cosy, with two outside areas for the summer months. Service was exceptional. Meals we tasty and well presented. The chips and the coffee are worth the visit alone. The menu provides a shopping list of what to expect on each plate. The coffee was great. The cold drip fruity and layered in flavour and very much a drink to linger over and well presented. The latte was a perfect temperature, smooth, robust and no hint of bitterness (nice to see a single shot espresso priced less than a milk coffee). My cold drip coffee was fruity and layered in flavour and very much a drink to sip and enjoy. The latte was a good temperature and robust with no hint of bitterness. It’s good to have a price list for ‘a Little bit more” so if you’re adding to your meal you know what you’re up for. Almost all the wines were available by glass with a good choice of varietals on the relatively short list. Most of the beers and ciders are local. Overall the value for money was good and the experience great.

Special Strengths

Cafe with great appeal. Good range of excellent coffees, wines beers and ciders, and light meals. Exceptional service and coffees. Good value for money.
