what the judges said in 2019
How lucky are the residents of Creswick (20 minutes from Ballarat) to have this authentic patisserie run by charming French couple Marie and Paul in this small regional town. The pride shown in the baking is mirrored by friendly customer service and enhanced by good coffee and a choice of inside and alfresco seating (for the warmer months). The Croque Monsieur featured beautifully cured ham and excellent local cheese. This was a jaw dropper in its ability to fuse flavours. The ham and cheese baguette also used local produce and the bread was crunchy and fresh. But it’s the pastries where things get most impressive – the citron tart was a revelation with lemony goodness that lingered in the tastebuds like a first kiss. This excellent patisserie and its pastries in particular offer great value for money and you will be eager to return. Le Peche Gourmand is worth travelling far to enjoy. Magnifique!
Highly Commended – Best Unlicensed Cafe, Finalist in the Regional Victoria Tourism Exempla Award and authentic French patisserie. Inside and alfresco seating. Superb pastries. Delicious light meals, breads and French style coffees. Charming customer service. Good value for money.
