The Batesford Hotel is attractive on many levels. It has recently been extensively refurbished and it sits in a beautiful setting by the river next to an old bluestone bridge. Despite its considerable size and impressive reception and conference rooms, the hotel has warmth, personality and the décor is attractive, and the customer service is friendly, warm and welcoming. The drinks and hearty meals served at the Batesford are well priced and good value for money. Don’t miss the seafood entrees. Other stand-outs included delicious Blue Eye, Remoulade with skinned Cherry Tomatoes and Chive Butter Sauce, Scallops served in the shell without Roe with a crunchy mustard crumble and a creamy Pumpkin Puree, good Porterhouse Steak and a most enjoyable Gnocchi with crunchy pine nuts and Radicchio Salad. The Moorish desserts included Crème Caramel with a crunchy top of warm and sweet Vanilla Custard, and Toffee Pudding. There are plenty of beers and the wine list includes many around the $30 per bottle mark, plenty available by the glass, and good coffee and teas. The Batesford Hotel appeals to a range of guests and tastes and is family friendly. Once you’ve visited chances are you will return. The locals at Batesford are lucky to have this hotel in their neck of the woods.
