Arriving at Yellow Espresso in Sturt Street, CBD Ballarat, you could tell you were in for a treat. Yellow Espresso is a super busy little cafe that certainly delivers what it promises – a great range of delicious food and great coffee in a cool, slick yet cosy environment. The Cafe was bright and contemporary with splashes of colour. The music at the right level adding to the buzzy, energetic feel of the place. The house-made Red Lentil Soup was exactly as described to by the waitress, rich and uncuous, flavoursome and served at the perfect temperature. The yellow scrambled eggs were perfectly cooked, light and fluffy with a good balance of pecorino and truffle oil. The soughdough was a good quality and well toasted. The zucchini & corn fritters were well cooked and presented. The drinks list included four wines, eight beers and a cider – very good for the size of this cafe. Customer service was exceptional. Arriving on a cold Sunday morning, the place was buzzing but our waitress found us space to wait before a table was available. Our greeting was warm and genuine. I ordered a freshly squeezed orange juice and a it was wonderful to be looked after so well in a busy cafe environment. The Axil coffee was treated with the utmost of respect – My latte was perfect on all levels but one of the stars of the show was the Gold Grind latte recommended by our waitress. I am now a devotee of this Golden, creamy elixir, and its good to see that Yellow Espresso uses superb milk from Inglenook Dairy. The experience of dining at Yellow Espresso and the value for money were both very good.
