what the judges said (2016-2017)
Sticks and Grace at the River end of Pakington Street, Newtown had a relaxed atmosphere, was family-friendly, served good coffee and uncomplicated food, and is the place where the locals head to. Relax on one of the banquette seats and pass the time using your mobile device (WIFI provided) or reading the local paper. Sit outside and soak up the suns rays while waiting for your meal to arrive. The food presented was appealing and appetising. They served all day breakfasts and a good lunch menu, gluten free and kids menu too. Timing was very prompt. Quality Philippa’s sourdough was used. Beetroot smash with poached eggs, caramelised onion, spinach and goats cheese, great combination of flavours. Wine was brought to the table. The wine selection was small but reasonably priced with a number of local wines. The beers and ciders were all from the Geelong region. Sticks and Grace is focused on keeping its customers happy, with good coffee, foods, friendly service, and prices were moderate.
