Country hospitality in a lovely setting
Steel Cutters Cottage in Great Western is a new eatery with differences. To come to this little café, be met by the owner at the front gate, and find such care and passion coupled with a tight focus, puts paid to any idea that you need to be in big city to pull something like this off. There is plenty of care and passion taken with the food and it was delightful to hear details from the chefs. The meals were presented simply – good honest slow food cooked with care, skill and passion. All wines listed were from the Grampians Estate (within cooee of the cottage) and introduced to us at the table by winemaker Tom Guthrie. The owners have invested heart into this venture and guests come from considerable distances to enjoy the great food, wines, company and country hospitality. The Steel Cutters Cottage experience was thoroughly enjoyable and good value for money.
Lovely setting, special events, simply presented slow cooked foods made with skill and passion, personalized customer service, great wines from the Grampians Estate, good value for money (bookings essential).
The Finalists for the SW Region Golden Plate Awards will be announced in October. The Winners including the 2017 Victorian State Awards will be announced in November. Follow these announcements here and on Facebook.
