2016 Judges’ Comments
To dine at the Perfect Drop at Daylesford is a memorable and truly delightful experience. I highly recommend the chef’s selection as a choice of menu, and to leave yourself in the hands of the wait staff and sommelier, matching wines with each course to complement the flavours and textures of each dish. The restaurant has charm and personality, combined with elegance and comfort. Its decoration echoes French Baroque with separate dining rooms, rich colours and textured fabrics. This is a perfect place to indulge in delicious cocktails while sitting in front of the open fire, listening to live music. But the highlight at Perfect Drop is the food – best local produce, fresh and seasonal, dishes that are simple yet complex in design and flavour and perfect in presentation, and the wait staff and tableware adding touches of theatre to the experience. The meals are sensational and we recommend the degustation menu to really enjoy what the chef has to offer. Each course was a delight, from the heirloom beetroot starter, to the eye fillet with house cured breasola, everything was perfect and a delicious experience of local and seasonal produce. Starting with a sensational list of cocktails Perfect Drop’s wine list embraces high quality local, Victorian and International wines with a focus on the premium Victorian and local vineyards. The wines by the glass are very good quality, and match the foods served perfectly, and the staff are very good at offering suggestions. Perfect Drop offers a high standard of service, with a welcoming and friendly attitude. Our waitress was charming, informative and very knowledgeable and showed great attention to detail. My latte was really good and one of the best I have enjoyed in a some time. At Perfect Drop we were offered a five course menu of amazing value at $80 with the food superb, the servings generous and excellent quality. An absolute steal considering the level of dedication and professionalism needed to deliver such a quality dining experience.
