Drive Cafe, Golden Point Ballarat

A touch of Melbourne cafe culture in Ballarat

What the Judges said in 2019

Drive Cafe in Golden Point brings a touch of Melbourne’s industrial cafe aesthetic to Ballarat, with views of the city and sky above the treetops.   Behind the slightly sombre facade is a well lit interior featuring touches of colour contrasting with natural timber and matt black. The music is unobtrusive contemporary jazz helping create a calming gentleness. The food is unpretentious and warming. Staff are friendly, proud of their environment and tuned to the customers’ needs. Drive Cafe offers a smart menu and the brunch and lunch market are well provided for with burgers, toasties, etc. The portions are generous and techniques good. Standouts include the exceptional coffee, Hummus and Felafels and the wines, drinks, beers and coffee are reasonably priced.  Drive is a gem offering depth to the local cafe scene and is a great spot to relax.
