What the first Judges said in 2019
The Clubhouse at Curlewis is a modern twist on golfing institutions. The comfortable couches and open fire invite you to relax and enjoy some local wines and pleasing views of the greens. The menu offers popular choices such as steak sandwiches, burgers, salads, wedges, ever-popular calamari and tasty house baked desserts. The fruit and vegetables were of good quality and the planning of each dish made good sense. The quinoa was cooked perfectly and had good texture with the crunch of slaw contrasting well with the pork belly, and the presentation was good, fresh, bright, and the portions generous. The desserts were a highlight including blackberry and lemon Friand and delicious vanilla Cheesecake. The texture and flavour combinations had pleasing textual qualities and contrasts and serving sizes were excellent. There was a good range of local whites, reds, rose and sparkling wines, with local ciders, beers and good coffee to suit a range of tastes, budgets and occasions. The Clubhouse offers excellent value for money for golfing patrons and the general public.
Great views of the golf links. Comfortable seating including couches. Open fire. Fresh ingredients and popular choices of light meals and desserts. Good range of beverages. Good value for money

What the judges said in 2018
It’s an amazing setting with picture windows overlooking the greens and the broad sky. Inside it’s warm on a cold winters day with the tables nicely set and staff at the bar ready to take your order. The food was fresh, tasty and very reasonably priced . The portion sizes are generous and there is enough choice to suit the golfer wanting a quick snack, hungry post-18-hole players, and those (like us) who came specifically for the food, drinks and surroundings. The variety is impressive for a golf club. The lunch menu features eleven dishes plus there’s the all-day menu of sandwiches and snacks. The quality was very good. There was a good range of wines, beers and ciders including local drops. Customer service was friendly and efficient.
Impressive views of the golf course. Friendly and efficient service. Modest but good range of quality foods and drinks. Astonishing value for money.
