What the Judges said in 2019
The Clubhouse at Curlewis is a modern twist on golfing institutions and a great tourists and visitor attraction. The comfortable couches and open fire invite you to relax and enjoy some local wines and splendid views of the greens. The menu offers popular choices such as steak sandwiches, burgers, salads, wedges, ever-popular calamari and tasty house baked desserts. The fruit and vegetables were of good quality and the planning of each dish made good sense. The quinoa was cooked perfectly and had good texture with the crunch of slaw contrasting well with the pork belly, and the presentation was good, fresh, bright, and the portions generous. The desserts were a highlight including blackberry and lemon Friand and delicious vanilla Cheesecake. The texture and flavour combinations had pleasing textual qualities and contrasts and serving sizes were excellent. There was a good range of local whites, reds, rose and sparkling wines, with local ciders, beers and good coffee to suit a range of tastes, budgets and occasions. The Clubhouse offers excellent value for money.
