FINALIST Most Outstanding Front of House person – Chris Guzman sponsored by Maxim PR and Marketing
Bar WaT is a homely gastro-pub that is warm and friendly. The dining room and bar are lovely, offering different intimate spaces and warmth and decorated with antique curios that showcase the history of Ballarat. The wine choices are interesting and constantly rotating. The manager does a great job at offering local options from small vineyards in the region. The menu showcased great pub favourites prepared tapas style, like the the mini-chicken parmigiana and the salt and pepper squid. There were good options for vegetarians and customers with a gluten free preference. The tasting plate was full of crunchy, salty options and there was freshness in the san choi bau. The crumb on the croquettes and arancini were exactly what I want when I am at a bar, it was crisp, salty and flavourful. The beetroot inside the the croquettes was full of flavour and the consistency was really good. The creme brûlée desert with a sugary toffee and caramel topping was excellent. The wine service was good with the wine list and wines by the glass constantly changing. The wines that were recommended were local and well priced. The customer service was attentive and efficient. The meals were reasonably priced and the portions were generous in size. The wine represented good value for money and the local quality that shone through.
