Somewhere to put on your Summer fun list to dine with Family and Friends.
Our Casual Dining Regional Winner Bays and Coast
Little Red Fox Eatery has it all.
'Set on Marcus Hill, Banks Road offers lovely views over the Bellarine Peninsula, lush green grass and abstract sculptures in the surrounding gardens. This great little eatery gives the chance to have breakfast, lunch or dinner on Thursdays to Sundays. The lunch and dinner menu includes local seasonal produce with interesting combination of flavours. There were lots of entrée sized dishes to share, entrees, mains and desserts, with something for everyone. Presentation is excellent and the food is packed with flavour. Stand-outs included duck with crispy skin and the fat rendered perfectly, vibrant, crisp vegetables of asparagus spears, spring onions, cucumber with a hoisin style sauce (like Peking duck without the pancake). There were prawns with tails removed and smokey paprika, capsicum, chilli, tomato sauce and mesculin. A very tasty Tostada braised beef brisket, tender and flaky with pickled red onion and coriander. Chocolate pannacotta sweetened perfectly with liquorice and honeycomb, and a good selection of Banks Road wines to savour with the foods. Excellent Code Black coffee was served. Banks Road is family friendly venue with room to roam and a good childrens’ menu. Plus buckets of footballs, netballs and basketballs to enjoy on the grassy areas. The entree and snack plates are of a good size, drinks were reasonably priced, Excellent service suited the Banks Road dining experience, and there was good value for money here."

Why not take a foodie tour around the region following our judges selections
Here is what they had to say on Regional Best Licensed Cafe
Winter's Cafe
'Winter’s is a unique spot in the busy café-scene of Pakington Street, Newtown. On weekends you will need to book a table because the locals love the place. An attractive and vibrant dining room with friendly staff make your morning brunch or lunch with a glass of good wine good fun. The menu offers great varieties, with classics ready to go, alongside unusual options such as a Japanese Pancake or Katsu curry chicken burger. The drinks menu had an excellent selection for a breakfast and lunch orientated cafe. There were solid options by the glass and champagne and sparkling wines well chilled and in appropriate glassware. Winters coffees are very special (they use Code Black ). The latte art was well executed and symmetrical. The milk well textured and the coffee rich and naturally sweet. The prices and value for money at Winters are very fair. It’s the kind of place you can visit frequently, enjoying something new each time."

Here is What our judges had to say about our State Golden Plate Winner
Merne at Lighthouse
"Merne at the Lighthouse is a hot-house of local talent jointly owned and run by Matt Dempsey (Chef at the renowned Pettavel and Owner Gladioli and Tulip restaurants) Caleb Fleet (Food and Beverage Manager Vue Grand Hotel Queenscliff), Graham Jefferies (Pettavel alumni and Head Chef at Tulip), and Merne’s Head Chef Josh Smith (three years Sous Chef at Tulip and formerly The Royal Mail Dunkeld and Gordon Ramsay’s Maze). Merne is set amongst the olive groves with views of Swan Bay, newly planted grape vines and a Plummer bird protecting its nest from the flocks of birds passing by, young gum trees in a row setting the scene for tranquillity and escaping from life’s hectic schedule. Merne is an indigenous name for “food from the earth”. Customer service was impeccable and the food presentation was perfection. The meals were exceptional, elegant and flavoursome. The menu is designed for sharing with a choice of two courses with option for dessert at extra cost, or four courses at a fixed price. Merne's enticing menu showcases freshest and finest produce from the Bellarine Peninsula. There was an extensive selection of good local wines and page dedicated to craft beers. This restaurant is serious about the foods and service it presents and will be a great attraction for the Geelong region. We had a fabulous dining experience. Merne is the perfect setting for a wedding or function, or to impress your guests for a business lunch; intimate dinner or special occasion. You will not be disappointed. "
