State Winner 2016: The Avoca Hotel
Eateries from all parts of Regional Victoria can take part in the Golden Plate Awards if nominated by the public.
Each eatery is judged and scored twice without notice by independent experts in hospitality for up to 35 factors. Multiple dishes are sampled at each judging.
The Winners are the eateries with the highest combined scores from the two rounds of judging regardless of venue category.
Awards are granted for each Award Territory and the State of Victoria in six venue categories and for seven Special Recognition Awards:

- Best Chef (judged in a cook-off of the 12 best chefs nominated by the judging panel)

- Best Menu of Local Foods
- Best Menu of Local Wines, Beers and Ciders
- Best Value for Money
- Peoples’ Choice Award (judged by the public)
